Lantern Pedestal
Stone lanterns were among my favorite subjects when visiting Japan - lucky me, since the Kasuga Shrine in Nara features thousands (!) of these. Unfortunately the picture is not tack sharp, but I guess I had enough lucky shots that day considering that I had no tripod.
Although I'm not really a fan of colour masking, I decided to apply some to this shot in order to make the rose standing out a little more. I also applied lots of tone mapping to get all those details in the moss while giving a heavy punch on the green channel's saturation and shifting overall colours slightly to some blueish tones.
