Japanese Garden
Japanese gardens are famous for their design and the amount of time people have to spend for keeping them in good shape. The result definitely is worth the effort, although the gardens certainly are not for everbody's taste. This image was taken in the gardens around Osaka Palace.
Although those gardens usually are quite colorful, the lighting conditions (and the wrong JPEG parameters I set my camera to, d'oh) lead me to turn it into a black/white picture. I, additionally, applied some tone mapping, in order to recover some shadow and highlight detail.
