Santorini -- Black Beach
This is a shot taken on the "Black Beach" just next to the city of Perissa on the south-east coast of Santorini. The beach is not made of sand as one knows it, but of a rather fine granulate of black volcanic rock. It is pretty porous and feels soft, perfect for giving your feet a nice massage when walking around. As one would have expected, the beach is well-known for its dark colour (actually it isn't really black, but some grayish shade), so I kept on looking for a light stone. I took a couple (LOTS!) of pictures of this one; in fact, the only way of stopping my eternal pursue of the "perfect shot" was to throw the stone far away into the sea in one of the brief moments in which my reason came back. Of all the pictures I took, I guess this one has the best balance of stone, water and beach...
It took a while for getting decent colour tones and contrasts in this picture: I ended up with quite a lot of exposure corrections, a slightly blueish tone for the water and heavy sharpening for giving a crisp appearance to all those tiny bubbles!
