Kasuga Shrine in Nara

One of the most impressive places I've seen in Japan was the Kasuga Shrine in Nara. Its a rather old Shintu Shrine (more than 1000 years old) surrounded by a quiet and peaceful forest... A perfect place to visit and relax! I'll certainly upload more pictures of this place in the next days, since I got quite some keepers that day...

Kinkaku-Ji

After some black and white pictures from Japan, I wanted something more colorful on my blog... I, once again, ran through my images from Japan and found a shot from the Kinkaku-Ji Temple in Kyoto. Although the original image looked pretty dull because of rainy weather, I decided to turn the picture in some post-card style and boosted the colours!

133 Megapixel

When going to Hong Kong in March 2007 I, by chance, met Martin Drozda (http://www.martindrozda.com). Owning an (analogue) Large Format Camera, he told me about the incredible amount of detail in his pictures, resulting in an overall resolution of about 100 Megapixel.

I kept this idea of "super resolution" in mind and, eventually, decided to investigate this a little closer more than one year later. I wanted an easy to shoot subject yielding lots of fine details, and the view out of my colleague's office seemed just perfect... The result is an image with more than 133 MP.

Japanese House

Not only Japan's temples and shrines feature great architecture: You also find lots of mansions built in the "old style". Since I especially like those swung roofs, I decided to upload this picture...

Garden around Osaka Palace

One of the most impressive "attractions" one gets to see when visiting Japan are, of course, those amazing gardens. One finds them about everywhere and as soon as you enter one, you barely notice anything of the huge city around you: Only birds singing and people walking on the gravel.
